Wildflower
01:55
|
|||
Well I haven’t got a plan
And I haven’t got a prayer,
It’s enough to add up to a bad romance
You stir the pot and I’ll let it boil
And I’ll meet you when my roots have grown
Well I haven’t got a plan
And I haven’t got a prayer,
It’s enough to add up to a bad romance
You stir the pot and I’ll let it boil
And I’ll meet you when my roots have grown
Kick it
Ahhh ahhh
Dig it
Ahh ahhh
Well you can take me to the backfields, just know,
I’ll be my own damn wildflower
Well you can try to plant me there
And uproot me where I stand,
But that’ll add up to a bad romance
You stir the pot and I’ll let it boil,
But I only grow where I wanna
Kick it
Ahhh ahhh
Dig it
Ahh ahhh
Well if you took me to the backfields you’d know,
I’ll be my own damn wildflower

Holy
03:40
|
|||
I can feel all the notes between
Those and we hear and those we sing,
But I know that the music’s in the silence
And I have the strength to meditate on this
Didn’t I warn ya?
Didn’t I warn ya?
I’m holy
Holy
I can feel all my limbs growing
Beyond the muscles just now showing,
Now I know I’m not just sticks and bones
It’s not just my temple, it’s my soul that’s growing
Didn’t I warn ya?
Didn’t I warn ya?
I’m holy
Holy
But I can feel all your inhibitions
And I, too, am getting restless.
Ooh I know that I’m no prophet and no saint,
But I wanna help you to feel like you’re okay
Cause you’re a song a pen stroke away
From helping me get through the day
And you’re a sculpture,
Fragile and magnificent,
A block of stone that’s already been defined
As holy
Holy
Holy
Holy

Own the Beat
01:57
|
|||
Have you ever heard, have you heard of a beat
So miraculous you can feel it in your feet
Feel it in your toes and your toes how they curl
Like the curls in your hair, just don’t care
I know that you heard, I know you heard of a beat
So miraculous you can feel it in your feet
Feel it in your toes and your toes how they curl
Like the curls in your hair, just don’t care
Cause I’m dancing to your own beat
Unaware of where we should be
Hold up the beat, but I’ll cut it loose
Til we’re dancing to our own beat
Unaware of where we should be
Hold up the beat, but we’ll cut it loose like
Dadadada, dadadada
Dadadadadadada, yeahh
Have you ever bust, have you ever bust out a move
So ridiculous you can feel it in their eyes
See it in their stares but the taps and twists
From your head reach your hips, just don’t care
I know that you bust, I know you bust out a move
So ridiculous you can feel in their eyes
See it in their stares but the taps and the twists
From your head reach your hips, just don’t care
Cause you’re dancing to your own beat
Unaware of where you should be
Hold up the beat but you’ll cut it loose
Til we’re dancing to our own beat
Unaware of where we should be
Hold up the beat but we’ll cut it loose like
Dadadada, dadadada
Dadadadadadada
Just like this

I can’t tell if my speaker’s buzzing or if those are crickets I hear
I won’t go camping, but every song I write is about the world out there
I live in fear of the cold place between the shower and my towel
I reach for swelling doors, they’re sticking lately,
Oh maybe I’m just stuck in my ways
Oh maybe I’m just real stubborn
Or maybe I’m still perplexed
But I swear there’s a symbol there
I can’t seem to crack my back, though I keep turning around in my chair
I told a freshman I didn’t have a pencil, what? It was already packed
I got my braces off, there was a mark on my tooth that I’d forgotten about
I never played with paper dolls, now I feel so torn and folded and flat
Oh maybe I’m just real stubborn
Or maybe I’m still perplexed,
But I swear there’s a symbol there
Oh I swear
And I never swear,
That too,
I swear there must be,
I swear there could be,
There should be a symbol there

Lady Luck and Miss Fortune
Went on into town
Not to buy a thing but to get some fresh air
Lady Luck stalled when she thought of her chores
Til Miss Fortune saw her shaking hand
She said, are you afraid of who you are?
Lady Luck and Miss Fortune
Went down every aisle
Not so much walking but dancing all the while
Lady Luck stalled when she thought of her kids
Til Miss Fortune placed a daisy in her hand
She said, are you afraid of who you are?
Lady Luck and Miss Fortune
Found themselves at dawn
Not within the town but laid out on the lawn
Lady Luck stalled when she thought of her man
Til miss fortune offered to hold her hand
She said, are you afraid of who are?
This was too real for a sign
Too important for the right time
Too sincere for them to be blind
But this was too fateful to turn out just fine
Under the stars and upon sharing their scars
Lady Luck could ignore the question no longer
Miss Fortune unable to look her in the eyes,
Merely peered at her brows as she asked
Are you afraid of who you are
And you know what Lady Luck said, don’t you?
I am, oh I am, you know I am, I am
So Lady Luck had Miss Fortune walk her to the door
Already back with her kids, her man, and her chores
Lady Luck stalled letting go of her hand
But Lady Luck had the misfortune of belonging to a man

Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me
02:26
|
|||
Point all your fingers, give away your guilt
Use a weary old explanation
For what you might've done if she
Pointed her fingers, gave away her guilt
Use a weary old explanation
For what you know you've done to her
I didn't ask for this, no, what makes you think I wanna know
I didn't ask for this, no, what makes you think I wanna know
I didn't ask to know when
I didn't ask to know why
I didn't ask to know how I hurt you
Wait, wait, don't tell me
Point all my fingers, give away my guilt
Use a weary old explanation
For what I might've done if you
Pointed your fingers, gave away your guilt
Use a weary old explanation
For what I know I’ve done to ya
I didn't ask for this, no, what makes you think I wanna know
I didn't ask for this, no, what makes you think I wanna know
I didn't ask to know when
I didn't ask to know why
I didn't ask to know how I hurt you
Wait, wait, don't tell me
Don’t hold your breath
Count your fingers
Of all the times I did you wrong
Don’t hold your breath
Count your fingers
Of all the times I did you wrong
Don’t hold your breath
Count your fingers
Of all the times I did you wrong
Cause soon all that you do will come on back to bite you
Oh bite me, there I said it

The Waltz
03:51
|
|||
And while they will tell you he had no spine
He waltzed with the ladies divine,
Spinning them round the ballroom floor
Just tricking the turning of time
And while by the time he took her hand
The heat should have given her glow,
The closer he drew her into him
The more her doll features feigned flesh
One two three, two two three, three two three one
Three two three, two two three, one two three one
And while all he whispered their fourth dance
Was join me I need some air,
That single white lie beneath the blue moon
Was enough for any man to make madness
And while she had moved with grace all night
She now pulled back with a jolt
Her heart catching on his sleeve pocket
With a rithering* rip of regret
One two three, two two three, three two three one
Three two three, two two three, one two three one
And while to the ball he did return
His tunic now fresh and pressed
The guilt that he wore was as plain to see
As the crippling crimson of crime
And while his old charm drew a lady in
The room spun more than he did
Waltzing so suddenly out of time
He fled to the balcony breathless
Breathless
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh…
For while like the line of a song like such,
One must look down to know what is next,
Those women and men wish they never did
At the sight of his splintering spine
He fell one two three, two two three, three two three one
He fell three more feet, two more feet, one foot then
Three more feet, two more feet, one foot then
Three more feet, two more feet, one foot then
none

Light Up Your Brain
03:37
|
|||
Told you I’d light up your brain
Didn’t tell you when or why
Told you I’d light up your brain
If you just gave me your hand
Told you I’d mirror your fears
Didn’t tell you they’re not mine to own
Told you I’d mirror your fears
If you just came in real close
But if all things seem to conspire to inspire you and I
Then all our hesitations must be insulting to the sky
You and I
Oh you and I
Told you I’d open your mind
Didn’t tell you it’s not my choice
Told you I’d open your mind
Just give me the command
But if all things seem to conspire to inspire you and I
Then all our hesitations must be insulting to the sky
You and I
Oh you and I
But I forgot what you told me
Did you mean what you said
What we tell ourselves matters
Ooh I forgot what you told me
Did you mean what you said
What we tell ourselves matters
Oh it matters, it matters
It matters to you and I
Oh you and I, you and I, you and I
But if all things seem to conspire to inspire you and I
Then all my hesitation must be insulting in your eyes
